Dr. Connie Sillerud graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Following eighteen months in general small animal practice, Dr. Sillerud returned to the U of M, successfully completing a residency in comparative ophthalmology in 1987. She has owned and operated Companion Animal Eye Center, Ltd since February 1987. Dr. Sillerud is a member of the AVMA, MVMA, USGA, and MGA. She has served on the AES Board of Directors and the MVMF Board of Directors. She is a past president of the MVMF and has served on the MVMF golf committee for 24 years. Dr. Sillerud is an avid golfer and gardener and enjoys spending time outdoors. She lives in Golden Valley with her husband and their Large Munsterlander.

Following the completion of his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Saint John’s University, Dr. Boyle attended the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 2003. For 12 years he practiced dairy medicine; three years in eastern Wisconsin and the remaining time back in Minnesota. In 2014 Dr. Boyle left practice and moved into the animal health industry as a Technical Service Veterinarian for Zoetis working with veterinarians and dairy farms in MN, IA, and WI. Since graduation, he has been involved with the MVMA as a member and chair of the Food Animal Committee and is currently President of the Executive Board. For the past four years, he has also been representing veterinarians from Minnesota as one of the delegates to the AVMA House of Delegates. Additionally, he has remained active with the U of MN College of Veterinary Medicine by hosting students at his client’s farms while in practice, as a guest lecturer, and recent collaboration with Dr. Sandra Godden through field research investigating the relationship between bedding characteristics and udder health. He and his wife, also a veterinarian, reside near Red Wing, MN with their 3 children.

Dr. Nancy Peterson received her BA in biology in 1989 and her DVM in 1993 both from the University of Minnesota-St. Paul. Dr. Peterson started working at the New Ulm Regional Veterinary Center in April 1998. She works with cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and camelids. She is a member of AASRP, AABP, and AAEP. She served on the MVMA Executive Board (2015-2018), and is a past Bovine Annual Meeting Program Chair. She is currently chair of the MVMA Membership committee and a WeGIVE committee member and volunteers at the state fair Miracle of Birth Center. Dr. Peterson lives in rural New Ulm with a pug named Pepper and a varied assortment of cats!

Dr. Thompson earned her DVM and swine medicine certification from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 2007. After graduation, she spent over a year as a swine production system veterinarian for a Minnesota-based company. She joined the Board as a senior veterinarian in July 2008 and is currently the state veterinarian and executive director. Dr. Thompson’s list of program responsibilities includes traceability, swine, carcass disposal, markets and exhibitions, and data requests. She also has a JD from the William Mitchell College of Law.

Dr. Thompson is proud of her agricultural background; her brother and nephew are the fourth and fifth-generation on the family farm.

Dr. Douglas knew from a very young age that she would be a veterinarian. This career choice guided her entire youth and she is thrilled to be able to live out her dream. Dr. Douglas graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. She has a strong interest in internal medicine. In 2011, Dr. Douglas started a non-profit veterinary service, GrenVet, which provides care to animals in Grenada. In her free time, Dr. Douglas enjoys scuba diving, traveling, and spending quality time with her adorable cats Kaya and Mr. Waffles.

Dr. Gary Goldstein has been an MVMA member for over 36 years and he looks forward to serving on the board and sharing his knowledge with the board. Over the past seven months, we have worked tirelessly and collectively as a veterinary community, to address the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19 and its impact on how we practice veterinary medicine. Dr. Goldstein graduated from the UMN College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. In 1987 he became a Charter Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and in 1992 he became Board Certified in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery. Dr. Goldstein was Professor, section head of the Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery service for 13 years and associate medical director at the UMN VMC for five of those years. He was responsible for medical operations, strategic planning and implementation of medical standards. He also implemented leading-edge didactic and clinical programs that fostered innovation, teamwork, and continuing education programs. Dr. Goldstein works at Lakefield Veterinary Group. Six years ago he was hired as their Chief Medical Officer. This past summer he joined the Mergers and Acquisitions team full time as the Executive Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions, working with fellow colleagues, to identify like-minded veterinarians to join the Lakefield family and to help them make decisions for their next stages in their careers

Dr. Hinson graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in 1989. He has practiced in the Twin Cities for many years and is well versed in addressing all your pet’s medical needs. He has a special interest in surgery and in geriatric medicine geared towards promoting a better quality of life for older pets. When away from the hospital, Dr. Hinson pursues a number of hobbies including fishing, gardening, and gourmet cooking. His dog Toast, named for his fur, loves to run circles around him.

Dr. Ned Patterson is one of the world’s top three genetic researchers in canine epilepsy. Over the past 10 years, he has been the recipient of three major and two smaller research grants in genetics and canine epilepsy from the National Institutes of Health. One of his other research projects, conducted with colleague Dr. Jim Mickelson, was in exercise-induced collapse in dogs. Patterson and Mickelson identified the first naturally occurring mutation in the responsible gene (DNM1) and published the findings in the journal Nature Genetics.
Board-certified in small animal internal medicine, Patterson splits his time between clinics, teaching, and research.

Dr. Jessica Koppien-Fox is Director of Veterinary Services and Biosecurity at Ralco in Marshall, MN. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. She loves working with all animals from companion animals to livestock and has a passion for aquatic medicine. Jessica has extensive aquatic medicine training, including the complete AQUAVET® program (I, II, III), University of Wisconsin's Basic Fish Medicine Course, and University of Arizona's Shrimp Pathology Short Course. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in public health with a focus on seafood safety. She serves on the AVMA Aquatic Veterinary Medicine Committee as the food animal production representative. She has been an active member of the MVMA Governmental Affairs Committee since 2015 and is a graduate of the 2016 MVMA Power of 10 Leadership Program. Jessica’s personal mission statement is 'to live life fully, honestly, and compassionately while making a positive impact on the health of animals, humans, and environment in the world around me.' She resides in Marshall, MN with her husband, Mike and bullmastiff Rita. Her daughter Morgan is a freshman at South Dakota State University. She enjoys international travel, photography, sewing, art, and absolutely loves to learn.
