 Lisa RadostaDr. Radosta graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She completed a residency in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. During her residency, she was awarded the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists Resident research award two years in a row. Dr. Radosta is the owner of Florida Veterinary Behavior Service, a specialty practice in southeast Florida and co-owns Dog Nerds, an online educational resource for owners whose pets have behavior disorders. She lectures nationally and internationally for veterinarians, their staff and lay people. She has written book chapters for textbooks including Handbook of Behavior Problems of the Dog and Cat; Blackwell’s Five Minute Veterinary Consult, Decoding your Cat and Canine and Feline and Small Animal Pediatrics. She is the coauthor of From Fearful to Fear Free, the ultimate guide for fearful dogs.


Seminar Agenda:

9:00 am – 10:30 am: Separation Anxiety Solutions
Do you want to treat separation anxiety, but are unsure how to make it work in the primary care practice model where you rely mostly on your support staff and time is of the essence? At the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Describe how to approach and treat separation anxiety cases in the primary care setting
  • Apply tips to build your confidence in handling separation anxiety cases

10:30 am – 10:45 am: Break 


10:45 am – 12:15 pm: What's on Your Mind? Seven Questions that Veterinarians Ask Veterinary Behaviorists
No matter where you practice, most likely you encounter the same challenges related to behavioral medicine cases as your colleagues. Get those answers you have been looking for at this lecture! At the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the answers to the questions most asked by veterinarians to veterinary behaviorists

12:15 pm – 1:00 pm: Lunch


1:00 pm – 2:30 pm: Don't Dread Feline Behavior Appointments 
Do you find yourself wanting to help cats with behavior problems, but not knowing where to start? Are you having a tough time seeing those behavior cases in your regularly scheduled appointment time? If so, this lecture can help! At the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Explain practical ways to approach feline behavior problems in primary care
  • List quick fixes, band-aids and first appointment recommendations to help with feline behavior cases

2:40 pm – 4:30 pm: It's Not in Your Head: How Other Body Systems Contribute to Behavior Disorders 
Ever wonder if your patient has a behavioral problem or a medical problem? Would you be surprised to find out that 50% of patients referred to our practice have a contributing disorder which is not behavioral in origin? At the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Identify the most common clinical signs which can be confusing
  • Describe the easiest ways to rule in or out a primary psychiatric disease
  • Discuss quick and easy approaches to treatment

What will you experience: The morning of the seminar you will be emailed the secure link to attend. Only the registrant has access with this link, and he/she must sign-in with his/her name and email address as it is monitored for attendance. The registered webinar attendee is also the only one eligible for the CE credits. The webinar is only available during the live presentation; it will not be offered later. 

Once you have accessed the webinar your computer screen will be dominated with a direct-feed PowerPoint for clarity of viewing, plus the audio of the presenter as the slides automatically advance on your screen. Audio for all users will be done over VoIP, which means the sound comes over the internet and is not via telephone. You must have computer speakers or a headset to listen to the webinar. Q&A will be available throughout the day.
